About

Perch Wine Company was established in 2020 during the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic that made the whole world stand still.  The country was on lockdown, I had a barrel of Syrah finally in bottle and nothing but time on my hands.  Starting my own wine label was a dream I had conceived after working my first harvest in El Dorado County in 2016.  I was 33 years old, a little old for an intern but ready to do the hard work and very excited that my path to becoming a winemaker would involve traveling.  I had caught the travel bug (no vaccine for that one) a few years earlier and quickly settled in to finding jobs in New Zealand, Chile and the central coast.  My internships eventually landed me in Amador County, back in the Sierra Foothills where I had started.  I quickly fell in love with the rich history of grape growing in the area and became a student of the old vines that contorted and clung to the red volcanic soils all around me.  Realizing the potential to make great wines from these historic sites, Perch Wine Company was born (thanks Michelle).  I’m on a journey to make the best wines I can and I hope you stick around to see where Perch lands.  Thank you for your interest and your love of great wines.
