2023 Lodi Petite Sirah
I opened a bottle of Petite Sirah made by my friend Scott Kirkpatrick and was floored by how delicious it was. Turns out, the fuit came from Lodi. Aurora Vinedos is located in the Clements Hills AVA and is farmed by Gerardo Espinosa's family who has been growing grapes in Lodi for three generations. The benchland soils here make for a complex and nuanced expression of Petite Sirah. I included 50% whole cluster in the fermentation, giving it a bit more tannin to play against the classic black fruits.
1 1/2 barrels produced. 13.9% ALC
