2024 Lodi OLD VINE Zinfandel
The 2024 Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel marks the second vintage of the Kirschenmann “House Block”, planted in 1909 in an oxbox of the Mokelumne River on the east side of Lodi. This block was leased and lovingly farmed by Tegan Passalacqua and sits behind his Kirschenmann Vineyard. The wine produced from this vineyard has become one of my favorite wines that I’ve had the fortune to make. It is heavily perfumed and the red fruit is deeply pronounced, complex and textured. It is seriously good Zinfandel and has turned many non-believers into devout followers. Adorned on the label is a Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor commonly seen and heard over the vineyard, carrying a pair of cherries. The cherries are an homage to the agricultural history of cherry farming in the Lodi region.
The wine was fermented with native yeasts from de-stemmed fruit and aged in neutral oak barrels for 11 months. Only two barrels produced.
Must be 21+ to purchase.
*Two bottle minimum (total order) for all shipping orders.
